YOUR PRIVACY
No jargon. Straight answers.
What do you actually know about me?

Your name or handle, your email, your phone number, the month and year you were born, and your town if you told us. Plus the videos you send in and the points you score.

Not your exact address unless we’re posting you a prize. Not your exact location, ever. Not your date of birth — only the month and year, because that’s all we need to know how old you are.

Who sees my videos?

Everyone. That’s the whole point — it’s a public competition and clips go on our YouTube channel.

Before that happens, a real person watches every single clip and decides whether it goes up. If something isn’t right, it doesn’t get published.

Think about it like this: would you be happy for your school, your nan and a future employer to see it? If not, don’t send it. Once something is public, it can be copied.

Why do you need my parent or guardian?

Because you’re under 18, and the law says a grown-up who looks after you has to agree first. We email them, they click one link, and that’s it.

They can change their mind at any time, and if they do, everything stops straight away.

Do you show me adverts?

No. None. We don’t show adverts to anybody, and we especially don’t sell your information to companies who want to advertise at you.

Some challenges are sponsored by a company. Those are 18 and over only, so you won’t see them.

Is there stuff I can't do because of my age?

Yes, and here’s the honest list:

  • Under 16: you can’t go live on camera, and you can’t send dare invites to people’s emails
  • Under 18: you can’t buy Clout Pass, can’t win cash prizes, and can’t enter 18+ challenges
  • Under 13: you can’t use this at all, sorry — that one’s the law

Everything else — entering, voting, judging, fantasy, climbing the leaderboard — you can do all of it.

What if I change my mind about being here?

Go to Settings and tap Delete my account. You get 14 days to change your mind, then your profile, clips and personal details are gone for good.

You can also tap Download my data and get a copy of everything we hold first. No need to ask, no waiting.

What if something upsets me on here?

Every clip, comment and profile has a Report button. We look at every report and act within a day.

You can also block anyone — they disappear from your view and you from theirs.

If it’s serious, tell a grown-up you trust as well as us. And if you ever feel unsafe, Childline is free on 0800 1111 and won’t show on a phone bill.

Can I talk to a real person about this?

Yes. Email us and someone will actually reply. If you’re not happy with our answer, you or your guardian can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk — they’re the people whose job is making organisations handle your information properly.
